Sneaky Snake
Made for the 2023 GMTK Game Jam.
The roles have been reversed on this arcade classic! This time, you're the apple and the snake is coming to eat you!
Your goal is to escape by finding ladders while the snake is hunting you down!

That snake is goofy.
But with the atmosphere, its sooo scary.

Yes yes he was
Would be nicer if the game communicated to you that the spring shoes can be used only once… And that they weren’t necessary to finish the second stage.
The spring shoes recharge after 5 seconds, but yeah, it should be communicated better.
fun idea and visuals! but the snake gets stuck sometimes
The snake was by far the hardest part of functionality. I think we went through three(?) different pathfinding methods before settling on one that worked for us. Glad you enjoyed it, it was our first jam!
Fun game, would be nice if the ladders were more visible though.
That's what makes the game challenging by the way if you walk on the side you go one grid faster than the snake
Idea is cool, controls are a bit difficult.

i dont like the movement very much and there is no way to outrun the the snake. And the sprites were a bit iffy
You are wrong there is a way if you sidewalk by pressing S and d or s and A or WD or WA you can walk sideways that makes you one grid faster than the snake
